Volunteer Opportunities Serving the Community

A free community breakfast open to anyone.
Restaurant-style service
Tuesdays & Fridays 7:00-8:00 am
First Church, Downtown Brady Hall
946 Vermont St 66044.

Volunteers help with cooking, plating, serving and clean-up.
Volunteer Hours  5:45-8:00 am.
No training necessary. Please sign-up in advance.

Outdoor mobile food pantry that provides
nutritious, fresh food to people in need.
2nd Saturday Every Month 10:30am-12:30pm
First Church, West Campus 867 Hwy 40, 66049

Volunteers help load food into vehicles
as they drive through the serve line.
(must be able to lift 5-20 lbs. repetitively)

A partnership hosting families experiencing
homelessness for one week four times a year.

There are many ways to help, from food and supply
donations, to overnight hosts to set up and clean up.

Volunteer Sign up opens a few weeks before we host.
2020: Feb 16-23, Apr 26-May 3, Aug 23-30, Nov 22-29

Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen

A free community hot lunch for those in need.
First Church serves 3rd Sundays every other month.

Volunteer needs: Food Donations and Volunteers to help
prepare & serve food to approx 150-200 LINK guests.

Prison Ministry Clothing Closet

This ministry housed at First Church provides women
being released from the Topeka Correctional Facility
clothing and a purse to empower a fresh start.

Volunteers are needed once a month to select clothing from our clothing closet and package it for delivery to the prison.

Trinity Interfaith Food Pantry

Providing food for people in Lawrence & Douglas County
collection is part of a local church partnership

Grocery carts are located at both campuses
to collect non-perishable food donations

April, July, and October are special food collection months.

Our First Church Habitat for Humanity group works
with both the Lawrence and national Habitat for Humanity
to build houses for local families, support the Habitat Restore,
and other Habitat for Humanity projects.
